One of the best programmes on rugby league on TV. By rugby league for rugby league?

On The Road Games - back for 2016?

30 July 2014 - 10:47 AM

Interesting to see that Salford are asking their fans their thoughts on taking one of their 2016 home games on the road. This is on the back of a good discussion on the rugby league show on Radio Yorkshire on Monday night.

The idea isn't to require clubs to go on the road, but my view is that there is nothing to prevent a club like Salford doing so, if they wish.

There are opportunities for an individual club to get their name out into a new market, and I guess they need to look at how such a move would stack up financially, but I wonder whether from the game's perspective, whether it is better for a club to take a match to an existing, small market (eg South Wales, Oxford, Newcastle/Gateshead), or whether it is best to go to a brand new area?
