In Topic: HEAD COACH POSITION

20 August 2014 - 02:53 PM

Four applicants according to the Evening Mail. It doesn't say if that includes Bobbie G, but it does state that two of them have international experience.

I sincerely hope Bobby Goulding is not being considered for the position of Head Coach next season. I listened to his interview on the radio after the Workington game last Sunday. I have to say I have never heard a man so full of his own self importance as he is. He said his son had a magnificent game apart from one small mistake which he could be forgiven for as he played so well. He was then asked about where he would be next season. He said he would still be in Rugby but he didn't know where yet. He then stated that if he wasn't Head Coach at Barrow next year it would be a big step "BACKWARDS" for the Raiders. He then went on to say that there were some players in Championship clubs who would be willing to drop down to Division 1 in order to play for "BOBBY GOULDING". The man is so deluded he makes me laugh.

The question I would be asking is "why is he still being considered?" We would be the laughing stock of the league if we gave him a contract even for a year! He has the worst record in the league. He states the position must be full time and things have to change in the running of the club! Sorry but you have been a full time coach and the BoD have bent over backwards for you, what have you achieve? NOTHING......
What is required is a part time local coach who can achieve promotion by building on the foundation we have without blaming everyone else but themselves. You have had time and finance and achieved nothing other than relegation.

I agree 100% with what you say Mike. He has achieved nothing and never will because it's all about him. He's the worst coach we have had in a long time. The BOD made a big mistake in employing Anthony Murray and then another mistake taking on Goulding. I hope they get it right this time. If they back down and give Goulding the job then I am afraid they will just be proving they know nothing about Rugby at all.

Lots more wins next season, for certain.

You need to give Goulding the big boot before next season. The man is an egotistical joke - as epitomised by his 'I never retired on my terms' comeback and '4 + 3' squad number. Now he's even talking about his buddy Jowitt turning out next Sunday.

Go with Peter Roe next season - if he's still willing to take the job. He'd bring you straight back up without a shadow of a doubt. Well respected within the game, an excellent record of identifying and then developing players from the amateur ranks, and an understanding of both the local area and the club itself.

I have to agree with The Terminator. What has Goulding achieved since taking over as Head Coach? He has spent a lot of good money after bad bringing in quite a few players. He has been in charge long enough now to have turned things around but has still only won two games. All these players he has brought in are obviously not any better than what we already had so why waste money on them. The money could have been saved for recruiting next season. Now he is saying he is going to recruit a lot of young un-proven players next year. Is that not what happened this year? Where did that get us? We need experienced players to stand any chance of being promoted.
