#2949289 John Duffy in for Watto?

Posted by Little Lion Man on 24 June 2014 - 06:58 PM

Can I commend the board on how they have dealt with this and the swift (though considered) appointment of John Duffy.

I am however still disappointed with Salford to leak the story to the press before your chance to announce and attempts to create media at other clubs expense.

I would wish Ian good luck but it is Salford so I won't.

#2946127 NEW T-Shirts

Just noticed that barrow have released sublimated (more socially acceptable) polo shirts.....I had to look it up but I think it is what I was suggesting....sort of.

#2942939 NEW T-Shirts

I have always fancied a proper polo shirt in the "style" of a retro kit.

When the 2013 kit came along I thought I had got just that but ultimately it is still a rugby Jersey (for Blue Monkey!) and therefore not always appropriate (perfect for the match/house/playing sport etc) but at my age, not for the pub on a satuday evening etc.

I was thinking like this picture course (in swinton colours). Lose the polo player (!!!copyright alert!!!) and with perhaps ("Lions") in subtle lettering across the shoulders or sleeve (or perhaps  a lion badge on one sleeve and a small "since 1866" on the other ?)

Polo%20Short%20Sleeve%20T-Shirt%20Men-28

I would look the bees knees at the garden parties/beer garden/pub/dress down at work!

PS - I would certainly not be including utility pockets for glasses, screwdriver, fags and emergency torch! ;)

#2938313 lions v Doncaster

Posted by Little Lion Man on 02 June 2014 - 05:23 PM

Nothing new to me on Sunday, though a much improved performance on Batley. - no wingers, no centres -  Thought we were fortunate that Doncaster drove up the middle and were very predictable (might even say boring!) - second half and they got the ball out wide (either through hands or a kick) and strolled in twice to seal it.

Three hookers, two full backs on the wings, no centres/wingers - the team is patched together and different every week (and DR is not to blame for that one).

Never felt in "control" of the game at any time but I was also disappointed in Doncaster who, given their league position looked only looked solid and rather one dimensional. That is the way to win games though and there is a lesson in just doing the basics in this league. (OR a few quid in the refs pocket of course ;) )

Ok, by eck, they taught em well in Monton to!!

I assume he went to the Grammar School in Monton?

#2924748 Rochdale

I think you saw one of the survivors today, and it was Hornets.!!

And I genuinely hope I am wrong. On what I saw, I saw nothing but swinton wasting an opportunity to get points. If a team is to stay up over swinton then I hope it is rochdale, "home of the co-operation"

#2921172 Ticket Prices

Posted by Little Lion Man on 25 April 2014 - 09:04 PM

Hey Zach, what are you doing asking for tickets prices for Sunday.

Saturday concessions 10 and juniors 2 on Saturday.

Ps.... Leigh do not use the forum on totalrl so you are unlikely to get a reply. It will be more expensive than the Saturday.

So would suggest you stick to the Saturday game with Swinton, more championships than Leigh,Keighley and Fev put together.

#2916114 Today's game.

I am guessing it would be Samir taharoui from the description alone. Was with swinton last year and signed on for whitehaven this season

#2915266 Dual Reg with Salford

Careful on the way down from Ivory Tower.............Welcome to the Dark Side.

#2915248 Swinton away, Sunday 13th April KO 3pm

Posted by Little Lion Man on 11 April 2014 - 09:22 PM

There were 5 dual reg Wolves players + 1 more on loan when they played Fev the other week. It took well into the second half before Rovers got on top, proving that Swinton are a handy side. If they are once again stacked with Warrington players, I think we will struggle. I predict a narrow Rams victory and a BP for the Wolves. Oops I mean lions.

Lions 14 Rams 16

Interesting.........but wrong (RFL rules say you can only have 5 Dr or loans combined)

Back at ya - Ricochet :onthequiet: (see what I did there?)

Predictions ... Dewsbury to score first, Deswbury to win the penalty count, Dewsbury to win by 10.

Always enjoy a game against Dewsbury - safe journey

Are the tickets in the Swinton end of the ground? ;)

#2913409 Leigh and loans

Posted by Little Lion Man on 08 April 2014 - 12:54 PM

"Short term loan deal" or "d**l reg****tion"

"Terrorist" or "freedom fighter"

Two sides of the same coin

Tomkins loaned from Wigan to Salford on a one month loan too. I think short term loans between clubs in the same league are undermining the credibility of Super League as a competition ;)

What is stopping Wigan loaning players on month loan to teams playing their direct rivals and .....(yawn)

Wigan loan to Salford, Leigh loan to Barrow, Featherstone loan to Halifax -  what would happen is survival depended on .......(yawn)

#2912800 Coach to Swinton

Posted by Little Lion Man on 07 April 2014 - 12:41 PM

Booing is a little "pantomime" and is, in my opinion, only appropriate for match officials when you have lost or a decision goes against you. Beats swearing at them!  ;)

#2883833 Swinton team 2014

Posted by Little Lion Man on 19 February 2014 - 02:11 PM

I am pretty certain that Halifax will be in a scrap at the top of the league and that we will not be directly involved in that and therefore the team performance did bode well for the season. The pitch was sticky but the lads stuck in there, tackled hard, and got some just rewards at the end with a strong finish and a couple of tries (perhaps a good advert for the "bonus point").

My biggest concern was the scoring of quick fire consecutive tries which can quickly leave you out of sight in a match and Halifax scored tries in twos it seemed.

Been a while since I saw a scrum half completely covered in mud at the end of the game..... summer rugby eh?

Sheffield on Sunday will be as big a challenge as Sunday but hopefully (as this will be their first game) it is a good time to catch one of the top few teams before they get going.

PS - thought Jordan went well at full back and foiled a fair few breaks with his cover. Bet he was glad he was not facing Penny though...

#2791279 Dual Reg set to stay!

Posted by Little Lion Man on 17 September 2013 - 09:12 PM

Wood played against workington on the opening day, swinton got beat.

Bridge played against dewsbury, swinton got beat.

Morley played in the northern rail cup against cursaders, not the league, swinton won

Briers played against whitehaven, swinton won, whitehaven missed out on a playoff spot to workington.

Read into DR what you will..
