Topics I've Started

West Indies RL?

10 August 2014 - 09:51 AM

I've watched the Jamaicans progress over the last few years, and notice that T&T are an observer at the RLEF. Why do they not just form a West Indies RL for rlwc qualification to get all the best talent in one team. Barbados were involved in the 7s at the Commonwealths and think of the heritage players they could call on! Bailey, McGillvary, Pryces etc.

FRANCE A SQUAD FOR RSA MATCH

16 July 2014 - 02:14 PM

If anyone is looking for a University scholarship or likewise has children who may be interested, please read on.

Newcastle University RLFC  is looking for students who will be starting their degree programmes this september to sign up for scholarships and play for the University's RL team which currently finds itself in BUCS Prem. After a disappointing first season back in the Premiership after having been Northern champions for 3 years(11,12,13) - before a restructure of the divisions). With 2 sides the University is one of the few clubs to boast multiple teams in the country, and the club's alma mater includes many a Gateshead Thunder player, current and former,Wales, England and GB student international as well as Andy Raleigh of Wakefield and Huddersfield fame.

Alternatively youngsters who will start their 2nd year of college in September are invited to apply for scholarships for 2015-16 entry. Great financial rewards are available with Academy/District/Regional/International experience very much favoured. Students can also apply through the PARTNERS scheme which targets students from less privileged backgrounds the chance to study at one of the country's top universities with very good graduate prospect. Students simply have to complete a week long summer school and the University will then reduce offers.

E.g: grade entry AAA requirements will be lowered to BBB considering a student meets criterion set by the University, info listed here: http://www.ncl.ac.uk...ility/index.htm

It really is a unique opportunity to study at one of the Top20 University's in the country and also play a very high standard of RL in what is ultimately the best student city in the country
