X Factor star to play at Hull KR season opener

Hull Kington Rovers will welcome X Factor and I’m a Celebrity star Jake Quickenden to their big season opener against Leeds Rhinos at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

The 26-year old from Scunthorpe will entertain the crowd prior to the big kick-off at 3pm on Sunday, 8th February with some of the performances that saw him beat thousands of contestants to reach The X Factor finals.

More recently, Jake appeared in ITV’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and became an instant hit with the public, finishing the show as runner-up to Carl “Foggy” Fogarty, and he said he can’t wait to get out there and entertain the fans.

“I’m really looking forward to performing ahead of the Hull KR v Leeds Rhinos match on 8th February,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’ve heard it will be a packed house and I’m sure the atmosphere will be amazing. It will be great to meet both sets of fans and enjoy a bit of rugby league action too!”

Meanwhile, Mike Smith, CEO of Hull KR, believes Jake will add to what is already going to be a massive event.

“We’re delighted that Jake has agreed to perform on the pitch before the game. We know he is particularly popular in the local area and his performance will ensure our pre-match entertainment finishes on a real high.

“We’re determined to make a trip to the KC Lightstream not just about 80 minutes of rugby league but a much bigger event with entertainment on offer all around the stadium before and after the game that the whole family can enjoy.”

As well as his pre-match performance, Jake will be holding a “Meet & Greet” before the game with fans who book in the club’s 10-5 hospitality suite in the West Stand.
