Addy handed Centurions captaincy

Leigh Centurions have named new signing Danny Addy as their 2020 captain, with Liam Hood and Ben Reynolds as vice-captains.

Coach John Duffy has worked with Addy while in charge of Scotland and he says he was a clear choice for the role.

Duffy said: “Danny Addy has stood out since Day One.

“I’ve worked with him before at Scotland, so I’ve always known he’s had those leadership qualities in him.

“He’s not always been allowed to show those qualities with Scotland, but I’ve always seen Danny as a true leader on and off the pitch.

“He is someone who the boys look up to.

“He deserves the captaincy this year and I want him to be the best captain this club has ever had.”

On the two vice-captains, Duffy added: “Liam Hood has really stepped up this year, he has trained the house down.

“He’s made some changes in his life, having just got engaged to his partner and is settling down.

“I didn’t think Ben Reynolds would take to the role, but based on the last eight games he’s been phenomenal.

“He’s been sensational and I think the fans will like the way he’s looked.

“Ben and Liam know the club and know what the fans expect from their players.”
