Aston demands more from Jacks

Sheffield head coach Mark Aston insists Rhys Jacks needs to be ‘more assertive’ if he is to get first team action at the Eagles.

The Canadian international, a reported target of Toronto Wolfpack, hasn’t played in over a month at Sheffield, last playing in the club’s defeat to Oldham.

And speaking to The Star, Aston insists he needs to see more from the former Bradford trialist.

“He needs to be more assertive,” said Aston.

“He has played 80 odd Queensland Cup games; he is not a junior player anymore. He has played at international level with Canada, so he has the pedigree, we just need him to be more vocal and try and lead our younger players.”

Sheffield are currently seventh in the Championship, four points behind fourth placed Featherstone ahead of their game against Workington on Saturday.
