Bulldogs wear down the Eels

Canterbury Bulldogs earned their third win of the season with a 20-12 win over Parramatta Eels.

After Moses Mbye opened the scoring with a penalty, he found Josh Morris on the left. Josh found his brother Brett on his outside who slid over the stripe.

But the Eels responded when a late offload from Brad Takairangi let Bevan French loose. He passed to his fullback Clint Gutherson on the inside.

A Daniel Alvaro offload was to set up the Eels’ second. Gutherson this time assisting French for a try.

Both sides were struggling to break each other down in the second half. The Eels almost scored when French drifted along the line and kicked in behind for Michael Jennings. The centre knocked the ball on with one hand before grounding it with the other.

With 15 minutes to go, the Bulldogs levelled the game with a penalty goal. From then on, the Bulldogs went in search of a winner.

They struck when Josh Jackson kicked into the in-goal. Gutherson missed with a clearing kick allowing Adam Elliott to strike.

Another Mbye penalty sealed the win for the Bulldogs.
