Dave Taylor charged with eye gouging by Match Review Panel

The RFL’s Match Review Panel have handed out a Grade E charge of eye gouging to Catalans Dragons forward Dave Taylor.

TotalRL revealed last week that the RFL were requesting extra information regarding the incident involving Taylor and St Helens fullback Jonny Lomax.

The Match Review Panel initially delayed any decision last week whilst they sought out more information, but they announced on Monday night that they had hit Taylor with a Grade E charge which would almost certainly end his season if found guilty.

As well as that, Taylor was hit with a Grade B dangerous throw charge during last weekend’s defeat to Hull FC.

Taylor will not be the only player facing the disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday; Featherstone duo Tim Spears and Brad Tagg were both hit with Grade A dangerous throw charges.

Leigh Centurions forward Harrison Hansen is up on a Grade C dangerous contact charge, whilst Fev’s Ian Hardman also has a dangerous contact charge against his name, but his is a Grade A.

Wakefield’s David Fifita has been given a Grade B high tackle charge – with Warrington’s George King being hit with a Grade A dangerous contact charge.

However, Taylor’s hearing will not be heard until next week after the RFL accepted a request from the Dragons to postpone this week’s scheduled hearing.
