Dorn to captain Castleford ahead of retirement

Luke Dorn will end his career by captaining Castleford in their final game of the season against Widnes.

The 34-year-old will return to Australia at the end of this season, after deciding to call time on a career that began at manly in 2002.

Dorn has spent 12 years in Super League, playing for London Broncos, Salford and Castleford in that space of time.

“I’m not sure how I’m going to handle this one very well,” he said. “I was hoping I wouldn’t cry, but when I see my girls and I walk out on the pitch, that will be the hardest part for me, I think. It’s going to be difficult to get through that short period but then hopefully, the game will take over.

“It’s going to be sad to say goodbye to all these people, but I’m glad that I get to do so in front of them because they’ve been so special in my life. They have helped to shape the person I’ve become, and I know also that I have had a good influence on this club.

“I’m looking forward to us all celebrating that last, special moment.”
