Featherstone Rovers coach John Bastian leaves club

The second coaching casualty of Bank Holiday Monday has been confirmed, as Kingstone Press Championship side Featherstone Rovers have parted company with coach John Bastian.

Bastian only took charge of the club permanently following the departure of Daryl Powell to Castleford Tigers but, after Tony Rea’s exit from London Broncos, Bastian has also left his club despite steering them to the upper echelons of the division so far in 2014.

In a statement, Rovers Chairman Mark Campbell said “John is a man of great professionalism, good values, immense integrity and despite not working out at Featherstone Rovers, this man has an immense career in Rugby League and I believe he will be coaching in Super League one day.

“There will be massive interest in his coaching abilities and we wish him and his family well. Danny Evans will take control as interim Head Coach.”

The club are also promising ‘substantial’ changes at the club as of 9am tomorrow. Stay with TotalRL.com for all the details of that, and this story, as it develops.
