Former Catalan Dragons player promoted to assistant

Catalan Dragons have announced that ex-player Cyrille Gossard will take charge of the reserve team with immediate effect, after the departure of Steve Deakin from the Dragons setup last week.

The Dragons announced last week that Deakin would return to England on compassionate grounds, opening up a spot on Laurent Frayssinous’ coaching staff. And Gossard – who played for the club between 2006 and 2012, featuring 84 times – has been tasked with the role of taking charge of St Esteve, and trusted with producing the next batch of stars that can make their mark on Super League.

“I’m delighted to succeed Steve Deakin as new head coach of the Catalans Dragons reserve team,” Gossard said.

“My main goal, as Steve Deakin did during the last four seasons, will be to provide a maximum of players to the Super League squad.”
