  1. Of what was on show last week on Sky, I wouldn't expect them to be too competitive in the Championship and let's remember most of the ex-rovers players are ex for a reason.

As a club, are they going to offer more than Keighley or Whitehaven in terms of an away following and therefore raise the atmosphere, finances and occasion at all the grounds they travel too? Is there place any more enjoyable to visit for us fans? (Other than being a bit nearer than Whitehaven & Keighley and without the stupid stewards that Whitehaven have!) If we are heading towards two leagues as some would suggest, would you put Hunslet in ahead of Oldham or York for example?

    Are you for real?

  2. well done hunslet always a good game when we face them

however unless they do some smart recruitment and get in the gym they face a skid back down

Our current squad is capable of competing in the Championship and with planned recruitment's we should be well equipped for the coming season. Looking forward to the Fev games there always crackers.

  3. never understand why people assume that opposite positions will be up against each other. Id be surprised if Balck and Finn cross paths much at all on Friday. battles in the centres and wide back row is about the only time you will get genuine one on one confrontations throughout a game.

Will will guide us around the park better than Balck will do for Fax. Balck will provide more threat with ball in had mind but we have Briggs and Kain for that. A more accurate comparison would be Finn and Branighan who is amore effective organiser than black.

The key battle will be in the middle and we need our pack to limit their go forward to deny black branigan penkyvicz gleeson royston the chance to attack us on the back foot. Our def and line speed has been good thus far so we can do it but it should be interesting.

I wasn't implying a direct contest between Finn and Black but more as to who comes out on top at full time with regards to performance. You can't compare players based upon their on field characteristics over their positions but regardless it should be a top game friday.

  4. Are you and the old fella coming to Warrington on our bus on the 18th Josh, im picking some lads up from Selby around 9.30 in the sunshine bus bringing them to Kellington to catch the coach at 10am. Need fiva deposit, and are you making 1 in Friday?

Should be coming through after Hunslet game on friday mate and not sure about Warrington because were in Spain til 17th but I will let you know. Cheers

  5. Still not answered my question though eh, Hunslet Josh!!

Robbie Paul, Ben Black, James Webster and if it wasn't for a lack of consistency with these players I would even go as far as saying Paul Handforth, James Coyle and Jon Presley.

  6. Finn is superb at anything? hope you watch some highlights of todays game cos he played excellent, also saying he plays 20 mins out of 80 when you have tommy haughey in your team made me chuckle ;)

and I made reference to a comparison between Liam Finn and Tommy Haughey when? I like Fev and come to quite a few of the games so any comments I have on players is purely that and nothing to do with the club as a whole.

  7. Kain is a top player, but he is not a leader. Finn is far better at taking us upfield and is a far better kicker. Kain has the zip and looks ideally suited for the acting half-back role.

No-one has mentioned their defensive qualities. While neither of them can match Briggs in this department, the defence cannot be faulted whilst Finn has been starting at scrum half, so you know what they say about if it ain't broke!

Your last sentence pretty much sums the debate up and DP would be stupid to change it at present. The problem I have with Finn is that he isn't really superb at anything and over the course of a season I don't think you will reach your optimum with him at 7. Plenty better scrum halves knocking about in the Championship

  8. Finn will only play for about 20 minutes out of the 80 he is on the field and it will all be within 10 metres of the oppositions line. Kain will play all over the field and constantly probe defences for the full 80 hence 17 tries last season.

Looking good so far this season for Fev seen you against Dewsbury and Batley but I think if you started with Kain at 7 then things could be even better still based upon your recruitments in the threequarters and forwards.
