And my wife arrives tomorrow for a long weekend. Hurrah!
-
....and a big welcome to Belvis and Chateau Timtum to Albi. He is a one eyed springer spaniel.
As fit as a sausage makers dog!

Thank you GJ and Sev.
Today I have celebrated my forty sixth birthday.
A visit to Esperaza market where I sold 29 packets of sausages. I also had my two market neighbours blow second hand smoke from early morning jazz woodbines at me. One was selling knock off perfume which rejoiced in the names of "Oh my Rose", "Ladies Night" and "Violet Evening", while for the gentlemen there was such offerings as "My Manager", "Weak & Strong", and "Disturbing Swamp". I purchased two litres of locally made red wine for a wallet pleasing 2.40 euros.
Back at Chateau Timtum I watched aghast as the culling of the sheep continued in the field next to my house. Dear Clarisse has nothing on this.

Not sure this is the right place to put it, but my dad's obituary was in Friday's Guardian

Taken by my bride at chateau timtum.

Congrats to you two too x
Best wishes to the four of you! Excellent news.
I'm afraid that i'm off to Blighty in the morning for a funeral.
i feel a smug English romcom on the cards....

Every three weeks I go to the supermarket and buy some beer as a treat.
Two "mates" have just been around on supermarket day and demolished the lot.
Merde.

I had possibly the best delivery round today.
Down from Chateau Timtum through the Gorges de Rebenty, down through the vineyards to St Paul de Fenouillet through the Cathar Castles, over to La Tour de France and the great dam. Continued over the top of the mountain on a road I've never been on through some stunning rock formations. A quick nod to the founder of French RL as I zoomed through Jean Galia country at Ile sur Tet. A spot of lunch with that great treiziste Foti with the Goaty with views of Canigou. On up the valley to Prades and then a big climb through Molitg over the Col de Jau and back home with smoking tyres and brake pads. Utterly wonderful day.

Esperaza Market had it's usual fine collection of strange people today:
A dissolute French chap sporting a Stoke City shirt;
A smartly turned out man wearing new jeans, dress shoes, sports jacket, and a Dead Kennedys t shirt;
A man dressed as a cathar monk;
A young English bloke with an Oi neck tattoo;
Tely Pelo fresh from the TO game last night
I don't sell much but don't half enjoy myself people watching.

First day back at work after spending a couple of weeks cycling in the Pyrenees and walking a few stages of the Camino de Santiago. Best holiday ever.
Come over this end of the hills next time mate. You'd be made most welcome and we have some proper spiky mountains.
I've got a chum who will rent you a donkey to do the C de S in an authentic style.

My neighbour, a chap from the Pas de Calais, has today presented me with a copy of a 1967 recording of I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again.
On the sleeve notes Tim Brooke Tayor is described as being " gurglingly fruity", while Graeme Garden is "brushed and bourgeois".
Offers?

Nice bike Haloman..... The day I learn how to play the motorbike I will choose one like that.
Back in Blighty to see the hypnotherapist last week and those nice people at Hertz upgraded me FOC to a Fiat 500 Abarth.
May the Lord have mercy. What a silly car. Not only did I look as if I'd been extruded into it but it goes like the proverbial off a shovel. Great fun to drive a go kart for four days. The hand gestures by various other road users as I burbled along were most appreciated

Don't pick you nose after de-seeding and slicing a red chilli.

Thanks as ever Futtocks. A push towards the different / those you haven't heard for a bit is always welcome. I tend to sink towards the familiar or worse still, the lower common denominator of French radio. Word to the Wise Guy - hell yeah! I will be seeking out the rest throughout the evening....

I've got a permanent place now on four local markets which is a huge boost to my nascent business. Very happy indeed.
The competition ( a fella who comes down this neck of the woods from the Dordogne) has responded with a loss leader on his bangers. Interesting, and a bit of a compliment I feel.

Sausaging goes well. Sold out the other week which was good.
On the down side, I broke my flask so no more sustaining tea of a morning.
On the upside, went back to Blighty last week via Leeds (where I met a very pretty young mum who had heard of me ), and had a couple of nights back home with Mrs Timtum or Madame Saucisse as she does not like to be known.

Just finished my second week as a costermonger. By gosh and golly those early mornings don't half make for early nights.
I've also discovered that I've allowed my MOT to lapse. Silly born ###### that I am. Next week I will be mostly driving from the French / Spanish border to Dover and back again.

Was dining with our Aude correspondent Chez Felix in Carcassonne last Tuesday and spotted that big, former Babylon, bloodgate, Rah Rah, tbh wouldn't argue with him, former England and Leicester number 8, Dean Richards. Good on him, he was coordinating a charity thing in the town centre.
Given the allegiance of Chez Felix, is he thinking of moving over to le treize? Given Carcassonne's recent performances.......

Tomorrow I will be Pere Noel at the local school.
I think its because I'm fat.
Tonight I will mostly be swotting up on my Ho ho hoing in French.
A hoot, driving across the plateau to the school to the soothing, Christmasy sounds of Rammstein.....
"Why does Father Christmas have an english accent?"

fantastic achievement,well done
I do quite like the look of the tray in the bottom left corner, nice big bangers...............
Ta! And thanks again for your help and those others on here who gave great advice.
I'm now dreading the day when I can't face a banger. Its bound to come someday but not for a long time yet I hope.

How's the Mister Saucisse set up going Tim? What sausage recipies are you marketing at the moment?
After 7 months and 22 meetings with the French civil service I've finally got the complete go ahead.
Done two fairs (one Christmas and one British Legion) as a tester and gone well so far. I intend appearing at three markets each week in the New Year covering three different groupings of expats.
Currently making this week for my final pre Xmas batch:
The Tasty Pork
Pyrenean Cumberland
Pork & Leek
Traditional style
Caramelised Onion & Red Pepper
with sausage meat for those who want it.
Got a couple of spicier ones to have a go at in the spring....
Keep your head down, and come over and try them when you are next back.
