  1. Before the game on Sunday, Cas played the standard RFL tape/CD on abuse of players and officials but there was a constant chanted abuse of the referee throughout the game. Their only response was to play the tape again. I assume that this is their "well established system for dealing with chanting".

I know it happens elsewhere in response to individual incidents (including Bradford) but this was pretty incessant, particularly during the second half, and I can only wonder how much worse it might have been if Cas had lost the game.

I expect the usual suspects will suggest I should get a thicker skin and that it's just how people speak etc etc, but I should point out I'm not 'offended' by it at all, and can ignore any amount of foul mouthed chants (much as I would prefer not to) but it does show the club's earlier response to be nothing more than empty rhetoric.

Arrrrrr yes the little girl who says "please respect our match officials and players, any foul and abusive lanuage will not be tolerated"

They played it four times twice after Bradford tries.

  2. After a bit of help really.

The Crusaders are interested in any ways that they can get more bums on seats and are hopefully meeting a few fans to discuss ideas and I was wondering if anyone could come up with any new or 'out of the box' ways of getting people down to the ground.

I personally think the Wire and Saints games will sell themselves due to the proximity to Wrexham and the weight they carry as RL clubs.

However without wanting to cause offence the likes of Hull KR and Salford don't have quite as much pull.

So any ideas I can take to the meeting?

Any chance you can allow Peter Hood to attend?

  3. and your point is????????????????????????

How would you put this over on the radio???

Wires are expected to win today as they have carvell and myler playing, this should be a walk in the park.

    or

big test today for the young leeds team as carvell and myler line up for the wires

    or

returning from injury myler and carvell, Are they match fit or is this just a fitness test??

You know what I was implying, Leeds are having to raid the under 20's to make sure that they have a fit squad meaning that yesterday was nothing more than damage limitation.

  4. When sky pick up the Carnegie Floodlit 9s they wil raise the proflie of the event higher , which is good for the event and Rugby League.

    Agree.

It looks like the Rugby League's fatest man sprint will be once again one of the highlights of a fun evening.

The Fastest Man Sprint will again be centre stage at this year's Carnegie Floodlit 9s

The world class athletes of Rugby League will be put to the test on Wednesday August 25 at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds.

All those who witnessed last year's thrilling cavalcade of speedsters as they swept the length of the Headingley pitch will expect a similar treat this August.

Despite the presence of Kevin Penny of Warrington Wolves and Peter Fox of Hull Kingston Rovers and England it was the Leeds Rhinos teenage prodigy Jamel Chisholm who took the honours and in so doing secured the special trophy and winner's prize money.

Event Director Neal Coupland said: "The aim is to find rugby league's fastest player and as 2009 illustrates it will not necessarily be a Super League or International star. Teams taking part in the 9s will no doubt again be holding internal sprints in order to identify their fastest player. The sprint on Nines Night is a thrilling spectacle and adds greatly to the occasion."

Event Co-director Lionel Hurst added: "The sprint concept is very topical as Rugby League in the Southern Hemisphere is also making plans to find its fastest player. No doubt at some point there will be a world challenge to decide the global outcome."

  5. Very true, the evans twins will not be far off.

forget the burgess twins (where are they now?????)

Wires future is bright......yesterday the new golden age of Warrington beat leeds U20's 94 - 6

    now thats a BRIGHT future

Yes but you had Myler and Carvell playing :O

Jordan Burke, Chris Fleming, Rhys Evans, James Mendieka, Rhys Williams, Gareth O'Brien, Richie Myler, Garreth Carvell, Jon Clarke, Mike Cooper, Jack Cooper,James Laithwaite, Liam Hulme

  6. While I've been away this has gone undetected from my Rugby League radar.

The Carnegie Floodlit 9s on Wednesday August 25 at Headingley Carnegie Stadium in Leeds will see the finest line up of 9s Rugby talent since the World 9s in Australia in 1998.

    The 12 teams:

    Castleford Tigers

    Hull FC

    Warrington Wolves

    Leeds Rhinos

    Wakefield Trinity Wildcats

    Bradford Bulls

    St Helens

    Wigan Warriors

    Scotland

    Jamaica

    Wales

    Northern Rail 9s Winners

Great news that Bradford are there as it looks a much better competition than previous years.

  7. Where the hell have you got this information from?

Myself and most Wire fans that I know are not counting our chickens and planning for Wembley before we have beaten Catalans.

This type of thread gives every other club fans the perfect chance to take the mick out of us if we lose to Catalans.

The club have NOT already started selling transport to Wembley.

That how it should be, just look at all the Wigan fans in 2007 and before them the Leeds fans in 2006.

    ;)

  8. Just been watching the Sky Sports "Battle for the Super League (1996)" dvd and the intro music had me going, my dad was sat laughing in the chair as it came up with the system activate icon.

The original super league sky sports intro

Give me the above over the Frankie Goes To Hollywood one that's used now, although I used to like the big league intro for skysports games (1994) --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMyMm3MPmDo.
