  1. Got to say stayed on to support Fev and they were playing some great stuff, superb support can't have been many left at home BUT then the incident happened. Yes the Fax supporters were waving flags and gesturing but I could not believe it as a large number of your fans seemed to think it was an open invite to run on the pitch and try to assault the Fax fans, good job there were just about enough stewards and police to stop it breaking out wholesale, at thsi point I and a few other Knights fans who were supporting Fev left.

I f I wnat to see pitch battles and crwod violence I owudl go and be a football fan .

This type of behaviour has no place in Rugby League especially when live on Sky with potentially plenty of non-RL viewers watching our great game. If the individuals can be identified on TV then they should be banned sine die from all RL grounds.

Too much ale and plenty of you obviously can't handle it.

I agree it didn't look good on TV either, although Fev fans not solely to blame as some Fax fans could be seen goading Rovers fans and for a few minutes nobody knew why the pitch appeared to have been invaded during the game. The suggestion about TV evidence should apply to both fans!

By the way saw the 2nd half of your game and thought York were fantastic and along with Hunslet will improve the division next season, well done!

  2. in efence i would have done exactly the same, they knock on from kick off, or their first set, it is a guaranteed win, no blame on stu

Sorry i think that is a strange statement....what percentage of kick off's are actually knocked on i would say less than 10%? In a golden point situation you want the ball and dont want to give it to the opposition or you run the risk of being punished as you were. There was opportunities to drop your own goal when 12 points up.

    goal

I agree Rovers should have taken the chance of a drop goal when still in front but guess hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Same with decision to kick to Fax I bet %ages favour that option based on how many teams run the play 70 metres downfield to set up a drop goal chance, and as defence has been their strength I guess they were confident of forcing them to kick on 6 tackle. Also don't forget Fax's first set of 6 led to the drop goal attempt being chrged down from about 40 metres out and luckily they got another set of 6 to set up a better field position.

Thought there was nothing in the 2 sides but credit to Fax for coming back from 18 points down felt they then got a couple of slices of luck in last minute of normal time, firstly when from dropped forward pass Ref pulled play back when Zak was away, then when Field was adjudged to have knocked on when on another day the ref could have given us penalty for interference, ging us field position to set up drop goal attempt.

It has still been a fantastic season though and despite the final heartache I am sure there are thousands of proud flatcappers on their way home to drown their sorrows!

  3. Quote from the Halifax forum

We could play fev 30 times this season and we wouldn't beat them once. They are by far and away the best team in this league this year. Outstanding

Are people finally starting to realise that we aren't just a lucky team after all?

  4. Well done Fev, I know exactly how all you fans feel. Enjoy - Great isn't it !!!

Hope to join you at the Halliwell Jones (and give you a better game that Fax did !!).

To be fair to Fax they were in the game until Finny made 'Dummys' of them with 15 minutes left.

Yet again it was Rovers tackling in the first 20 minutes of the 2nd half and Fax spilling the ball at least 3 times due to last ditch tackles which won the game. They had a roll on and had they scored in those 20 minutes I think the result could have been different.

Reckon Powell will say we were too open in first half, although always looked more capable of outscoring them, but we won the armwrestle in 2nd half and finally pulled away when Fax kept hitting a brick wall and tired. Not sure if this is what the TV guys thought?

  5. Nice to have you back.

I hope ,like all you regulars do, that other old timers like me start coming back again!! I know a lot of my mates who were regulars with me in the 80's & 90's will come down again when I wax lyrical about tonight and I will be doing my best to help swell the numbers.

I have watched the Rovers for nearly 40 years (Me dad used to carry me on his shoulders when you could get away with climbing over the turnstyles in the early 70's!!)and I saw something tonight that reminded me of previous era's when nobody liked playing us beacuse of the tremendous team spirit and never say die attitude.

The reaction of the players patting each other on the back when they were forcing errors with their superb tackling in the last 10 minutes with the game already in the bag almost brought a tear to my eye!!

  6. I think you will find Mr Spears received the accolade in error , i know on good authority it was supposed to be Grayshon alathough my personal vote would have been Briggs.

Rovers worth watching these days - might have to seriously consider changing my user name!!!

I agree Briggsy was superb, but to be honest I couldn't pick out a weak link tonight in both attack or defence and if you asked anyone there tonight to pick a top 3 I bet you get most of the team mentioned by someone rather than the usual 3 or 4 names in a different order!!

I'm sure Tim will get some stick for being wrongly announced mom, particluarly if someone mixed him up with Grayshon (only about a foot difference in height between them!!)

  7. I don't get to many games any more due to variety of reasons, but after witnessing such a dominant display as that tonight I am sure I will be foresaking other pleasures to make sure I get down more often!!

I often read on here that everytime The Rovers attract a larger than normal crowd, the 'casual' supporters see the worst display of the season and don't come back. Well take it from one self confessed part time fan, I for one will certainly be visiting more often to watch displays like that!

Although the attacking display was superb at times despite the slippery conditions, I was very very impressed with the awesome defensive display. and I thought the attitude of all the players was clear from the start... They did not want Fax to score full stop and it was this attitude that wore them down and led to Rovers running away with it in the 2nd half as Fax just kept hitting a brick wall!! (I almost felt sorry for them...... almost lol!!)

You will go a long way to see a more complete performance than tonights!!

    Well done Rovers

  8. Evening all,

Just planning my journey for sunday's game with you guys and wondering if someone would be able to tell me how far Priory Road, Girnhill Lane (bus stop) is away from the ground?

Any info would be most appreciated.

    Cheers

    Nick

    About 5 minutes away matey!

You can either get off at that stop which means you will have to head for the main road through the estate,or I would stay on the bus until you have passed through the traffic lights then get off at the next stop which is 50 yards away. Walk back to the lights, turn right up station lane then follow the hoards until you reach post office road on your right before you reach the level crossing. You will be able to see the Big Fellas (& the ground lol)as you walk up PO Road on your left
