  1. To me, there is too much riding on the coin toss in a golden point. Unless you start to take the kick from further back, there is too much of an advantage. That's not to say things don't go against the general way however.

I'd choose a next try situation. Requires a bit more skill and is less reliant on field position.

  2. Quite happy with this signing. Showed some obvious weaknesses in his time with us at SL but it was a very poorly motivated side at the time, and ever since he seems to have been in better form. Hopefully he can fulfil the promise he showed when he first broke through our team. Welcome back Simon.

  3. For me its not a long term thing. I tend to favour teams who play a certain way or are up against it, but there's only one team I can say I support or ever will and thats Widnes.

At the moment I look forwards to Saints games, they play the way it should be played, and I admire Hull KR for the way they conducted themselves upon getting promoted, and I also look out for Catalans too. Although the sky team do their best to prevent this I also rather like watching Wigan recently, I'm hoping for a Saints Wigan final.

All these are subject to change depending on how the teams are playing etc etc although I'd never bring myself to hope Wire win a match.

  4. the handley page halifax was a second world war bomber, and flew many missions alongside the lancasters and wellingtons over germany, so perhaps that's where the bombers idea came from.

It would have been infinitely better than blue sox with one draw back. Rival fans calling them the "bummers".

Another thing Halifax can proudly boast about is the invention of the guillotine. So maybe the Halifax Executioners?

  5. What and Halifax have not had Major injuries this year then ?. still in the grand final, Its the Job of the Coach to sort this out. We managed, must mean we have a better coach then. We all have the same salary cap fella.

You can't compare our injury list with Fax's. You really can't. We had enough players out at one stage to put out a full team. At no stage of the season were we able to give the same team a good run to get used to each other.

I don't think it's appropriate to knock our coach either. We're all familiar with the difficulties he had away from the pitch this season.

  6. I don't usually post on this forum because I don't agree with a lot that is posted but because this is Grand Final week I am making an exception.

I don't for one minute expect Fev to ever have a chance of winning Super League but as a supporter all I ask is a fair opportunity to compete against the best.

I did not grow up loving the game because I thought we were going to win the League. I enjoyed it because when we took on the likes of Wigan, Leeds and St Helens at Post Office Road we always had a chance of winning. The atmosphere was so special and we had some great days.

I might get accused of living in the past but we are a club just as big as some clubs already in the Super League.

I would of course be delighted if Fev ever got a franchise but I would be more happy if the RFL would remove the unfair Franchise rule altogether and allowed promotion and relegation again.

Almost everyone top to bottom in the championship feels the same. Long term, franchising will kill the game down here.

  7. Quite right. Widnes, Fev and Sheffield (the latter two are joining the Academy comp next year) have the right idea; Halifax and Leigh do not.

The trouble and the challenge of course is for those teams who do make the effort to have their players protected - or are compensated for those poached in some way. Without having the carrot of super league it can be very difficult to entice players to stay with you even though you're the ones who have put the effort and resources in so far. Widnes are having difficulties in that respect, the one thing we can offer our more promising youngsters is a good possibility that we can offer them super league in the near future. But I've heard reports of Warrington coming in and offering many times more than we were paying to promising youngsters, how can we compete with that?

Put all the work in today, gone tomorrow to consolidate the strength of someone else who is already at an advantage to you. What's the point?

As I say, something to look in to.

  8. The fine Castleford incurred was not for the chanting but the meagre reaction by the club. You can't stop a fan or two from attempting to misbehave. You can deal with it properly.

Cas fans need to get over this. For one, you're reminding everyone of your absolutely terrible behaviour towards a player, and two, you're whining.

  9. ha, ha you whooly backs have never had a sense humour and your as thik as pig shiiiite 1 good way to wind a wooly up is call hima scouser. Well done dummy hook line and sinker

If only everyone could be as erudite and well spoken as you most certainly are. I will obviously assume that you spelled "thick" and used "your" incorrectly as an attempt at supreme irony.

One question though, why have you used two versions of the word "wooly" in the same sentence?

  10. Whats stopping Widnes competing then? ;)

A gigantic injury list, the worst I've seen us have in all my years, personal issues of the coach and actually relying on our youth and giving them a shot, and in spite of this we did actually make the play offs, and have been to the NRC final twice and won it once in two seasons.

  11. Sometimes you've got to move with the times, I suppose marketing is easier to the younger generation this way. I quite like some of the new names and crests. I'm more than happy with Widnes'. I hated the old badge but the new one is simple and effective.

As with everything, you just have to get it right. Bradford Bulls crest looks tacky, for a big club its kind of embarrassing. Featherstone's new crest is very good. Halifax failed as the blue sox, (couldn't even spell socks right on the badge) and yet some teams are really behind their new image. And the good thing is, a redesign is not seen as something sacreligious so you can keep your image fresh this way.

  12. It's called a 'Sale', most retailers have them.

Clearing out stock from the old supplier as next year there is a new one. A similar sale happened a couple of years ago when they changed suppliers (Kooga) to the present one.

Move along, nothing to see in this one.

Frankly I'd be amazed if more clubs were not having a sale during the off season. Apart from the clue being in the title, the off season, last years stock becomes pretty much obsolete when new kits come in so you need to shift it. As you say, nothing to see here.

  13. Since jbd has left the board bulletproof has appeared aping pretty much all you say, and often coming on the post after you - coincidence??

Haha. Nice try Parky. But me and Max are both long term posters on a number of boards.

Considering the post which outed jbd as another sad sock puppet account of yours was addressed to me your post has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

Back on topic before you embarrass yourself further methinks.
