  1. The Dragons are pleased to announce Damien Cook and Clint Gutherson as the club’s co-captains for the 2025 NRL season.

The pair was unveiled as the club’s leaders at a lunch at Wollongong Golf Club on Monday.

“Cooky and Gutho have both been really impressive in every facet since joining the club in November,” said Head Coach Shane Flanagan.

“The difference each has made around the group with their professionalism, leadership, Competitiveness, preparation and dedication has been obvious from day one and having them share the captaincy is a clear choice.

“Each will bring slightly different things but there’s no questioning the positive impact each has made already.”

Dragons Chief Executive Ryan Webb welcomed the role for the pair.

“With Clint and Damien stepping into formal captaincy roles, I feel the club will be well served this year in terms of leadership around the group and I look forward to seeing that continue to develop as we head into the season.” Webb said.

  4. Actor Russell Crowe has denied he is considering selling his stake in NRL club South Sydney.

Russell Crowe has been quietly seeking interest from potential investors in America and Australia.

Crowe, 60 years old and an Academy Award winner, owns 25 per cent of the Rabbitohs and is one of the most powerful figures at the club.

But he could offload his share and effectively sell out of the Bunnies if he can find a buyer.

"Just tell them all it's ######, and advise them to enjoy the summer sun," Crowe said.

He later posted to X to double down on the criticism of the story.

South Sydney powerbrokers have been aware of Crowe's movements for several months but the club has not commented on the situation.

Crowe, along with Peter Holmes a Court, purchased the Rabbitohs in 2006 for $3 million.

Estimates claim he could now sell his 25 per cent stake for up to seven times that amount.

Crowe considered selling his then-37.5 per cent share in 2012 before opting to remain in the business. The Rabbitohs then won the NRL premiership in 2014.

Australian billionaires Mike Cannon-Brookes and James Packer are now the other majority shareholders of the club.

The Rabbitohs are a foundation rugby league club who spent three years out of the NRL at the turn of the century.

The team has struggled for form in recent seasons but supercoach Wayne Bennett is back at the helm in 2025.

Balmain Tigers & Illawarra Steelers are a sadly nothing at NRL level anymore and unless by some miracle and a massive cash injection both clubs can be resurrected and buy there way back into the NRL, both clubs names should be dropped & replaced with the Western Suburbs Magpies & the St George Dragons.
