York V Fax will be a interesting game in two weeks time.

It's a no brainier for Rowley to join Hull IMO
I think he's drained every last ounce he can at Salford after having the rug pulled from under him multiple times.
Yes Hull are a complete basket case of a club at the moment, but that should excite a coach, that he's almost a blank canvas to go in and put his own stamp on things. If he only loses by 30+ points that's an improvement on things!
Timings everything in sport and sometimes you have to grasp an opportunity while it presents itself. I always thought Daryl Powell went from Cas to Warrington two years too late. Cas were gradually declining each year and it didn't feel like the best Powell went over.

Great win for us today. Expected a backlash from Toulouse after last week, but we look a well coached, well drilled team.
To have 3 wins from Wakey (A) Fax (H) Fev (A) Toulouse (H) is a great start, despite a lot of injuries.

Always thought Coleman was the type of coach Widnes needed. Possibly taking one step back to finally take a few forward.
Widnes would rip apart Halifax or Bradford, but had zero back bone and would completely fold against Whitehaven or Swinton at home. Coleman needs to make the Vikings a horrible, tough team to play against which is what looks like he's doing.
Barrow, Swinton & Dewsbury will probably be towards the bottom of the table, but Widnes would have lost one of those games last few years. Tough games to come now so we will find out more about Widnes in those. But pleased to see them heading in the right direction.

I'm open minded on IMG (don't think they're the saviours of the sport, but can see why they've been brought in and willing to give them time)
For me all the issues we had with licensing the first time are still apparent. In theory it drives up standards etc, but the reality is clubs/ owners know they're safe, so reduce spend (as evident on sky's salary table) why would an owner spend £300k on players when they can lose every game and stay in the divison.
June/July/August will be interesting when there's a number of dead rubbers.
Fans don't suddenly stop going because they hate IMG But they might miss a game or two because it's a dead rubber and do something else that natch day. Then the following year it's not worth getting a season ticket. So miss even more games.

The MRP decide on the Thursday what is charged, the bans come into effect the week after. They've presumably ruled both are legal as neither have even had a grade A.
I know the MRP don't have the easiest of jobs ( The Dupree incident which has split opinion being an example) but I watched the York game as a complete neutral and I cannot give any logical explanation why they deemed Cam Smiths "bump" to deserve a ban, yet two red cards were completely legal. Hansons was accidental contact but it was woeful technique and they've be dishing out bans for accidental head clashes all year. So what's the reasoning for deeming his tackle was legal.
Akauola sparked a York player out (not this first time his technique has done this to a player) again they deem this to be legal as neither have been charged with even a grade A.

Neither of Toulouse's red cards (one of which resulted in a player being knocked cleaned out) have been charged by the MRP...

No info (I'm definitely not "in the know")
But looking at their squad with the likes of Myler, Higano, Dagger, Thompson, Lineham, they'll be up there as one of the highest spenders in the league. They've a big strong squad.

Really poor from York IMO Toulouse are a good team, but with the money York have spent, if you're aiming high, Toulouse at home is a game you want to try lay down a marker or at least give them a game. York looked way off despite having a man extra from The half hour mark and then two extra men with 15 mins left.
Despite the commentator raving about Yorks attacking play at the end , think it was more to do with Toulouse running out of men!

It's amazing what some coaches see in players some times. Olly Russell is a good championship half but never SL standard in a million years.
Will never understand Watson signing Milner either. His skill level for a Hooker is woeful. Hooker is your most important position and starts off your whole attack. At what point did Watson see Milner and think "yeah that will get our attack going"

Good win for Sheffield.
Wakey comfortable against Bradford.
Halifax battle past Dewsbury.
Fev pinch it against Batley(taking nothing away from Fev, but sounded like batley imploded. Had a set of 6 on Fevs line with 3 mins remaining. Threw a forward pass on first tackle. Dropped the kick on Fevs last tackle. Fev score and Hooter goes)
Whitehaven fight back against Swinton.
Doncaster with a shock result against York. Doncaster have recruited some big names but expected York to lay down a marker after their recruitment.
Widnes hammer Barrow with cards galore.

What is it about Goal-kicking in the modern era? I'd love to see the stats of current kickers (who have lovely kicking teas) compared to the early days of SL,. Farrell, Deacon, Harris etc seems to be a dying art.

Oooo I like this thread.
I'd probably invest somewhere like Whitehaven. Hot bed of RL but hasn't had any serious long term investment. A tidy ground and a junior development of the best Cumbria talent would see that area thrive.

Whether the deal was appalling or not, in 12 months they've needed "emergency funds" which includes transfer money, fan donations, multiple council loans that has exceeded £1 million. This new stadium deal isn't going to make Salford £1million a year better off.

As an outsider looking in, with this recent council support, the crowd funding, and last year's £170k that's not far of a million pound Salford have needed donating/loaning to them in 12 months. This stadium deal isn't going to be worth that amount of money every year to.

Can't see passed a Wakey win unfortunately. It will be a lot closer than the first game as we were down to the bare bones.
Don't think we can catch them on an off day as this will be one game Wakey will be bang up for.
But you never know in sport...
