St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has admitted he’s hopeful of a clean sweep for the English sides in this year’s World Club Series – and revealed that he’ll be a fan of Saints’ arch-rivals Wigan on Saturday.
The Warriors take on Brisbane on Saturday night, 24 hours after Cunningham’s St Helens side face Sydney Roosters in the opening match of the three-game series.
And, speaking to the official RFL website, Cunningham admits he’ll be supporting Wigan on Saturday as well as Leeds this Sunday – and said a Super League victory in the World Club Series would be great for the competition.
“I’d absolutely love to see a clean sweep for the English sides this year,” said Cunningham.
“I want a 3-0 win for our competition. I’ll be a Wigan fan on Saturday night, and I’ll be hoping Leeds win on Sunday too.
“We’ve all got a big responsibility to showcase how good Super League is and I personally can’t wait for it to kick it off.
“If we all managed to win, it would be a great boost for the competition as a whole.”
