Featherstone Rovers will unveil the capture of a Super League forward at Thursday’s supporters’ night at the club.

League Express understands the club has finalised a deal for Frankie Mariano, who was released by Castleford at the end of the season and will take Jon Sharp’s squad a step closer to completion.

Sharp is still looking for an outside back to complete his numbers, but is prepared to wait until the start of the season for the right player to become available. The club will also use Thursday night’s forum to showcase the latest developments at the Big Fellas Stadium.

Meanwhile, stand-off Kyle Briggs is still struggling with an ankle complaint that saw sidelined him last season. The former Sheffield playmaker is due to have a cortisone injection into the injury to see if that can resolve it. Briggs is among the contenders to be named Featherstone captain when Sharp makes his decision in the New Year.

Also in contention are Darrell Griffin, Misi Taulapapa, Ian Hardman and Keal Carlile, with Sharp in no rush to make an announcement.
