It’s fair to say Richard Agar has been impressed by new recruit Kruise Leeming.
The hooker has sent the past few weeks under the watchful eye of his new head coach, who has been more than satisfied by what he has seen in that time.
“As a toolkit for a young hooker he possesses loads of positives,” Agar said.
“I’ve admired his as an opposition coach for his skills and deception for some time, but I didn’t know too much of him as a character.
“He’s an impressive young bloke. His talk, he asks relevant questions, there’s things we may do differently and he asks about it, he’s really switched on.
“What’s stood out is his talk on the field, in the defensive line, the small talk. He’s a player that I think has his best years ahead and I’m glad that they’re going to be at Leeds.”
Agar has confirmed Leeming will make his debut for the club in their Boxing Day bout with Wakefield, which will see Luke Gale and Alex Mellor also make their debuts.
“I think we will have a very strong side out on Boxing Day which should be great for the fans to see how all the hard work in pre-season is coming along.
“Luke Gale has fitted in really well and it will be good to see his combination with Robert Lui as we begin the final part of our preparations for the new season.
“I think every coach in Super League will say that their squad has a spring in their step at this time of year. There is certainly an upbeat vibe about the place, we still have a lot to do technically about how we are going to play with our new players but I am confident we will get that done before the start of the season. The boys are driving a lot of that themselves and they are a joy to be around at the moment.”
