THE GAMES
4:50pm – That’s it for today’s liveblog; it’s the first of hopefully many we’re doing throughout the season, and we hope it’ll get stronger and stronger! Thanks for interacting!
FULL-TIME in today’s pre-season friendlies – here’s how they all finished
Widnes 18-18 Halifax
Barrow 10-10 Workington
Doncaster 12-46 Hull FC
Leigh 26-20 Wigan
Hull KR 6-38 Huddersfield
Reaction, reports, photos and comments from all five games in tomorrow’s League Express! Don’t miss it!
4:39pm – Wow! Halifax, trailing 14-0, are level at 18-18 at Widnes. Be interesting to see the coaches comments after that one..
4:30pm – Halifax were 14-0 down at Widnes, but they’re now well on the comeback trail. 14-12 is the scoreline in Widnes – will we get two Championship teams upsetting the odds on one day?
4:24pm – Leigh lead Wigan at the LSV! Jamie Action with the try – mini-upset on the cards? It’s 24-20 with a kick to come, make that 26-20!
4:23pm – Speaking of Hull FC, they have another try at Doncaster – and Callum Lancaster has a hat-trick. Sounds like full-back Curtis Naughton took a whack in the process, mind..
4:17pm – An afternoon of contrasting fortunes for the Hull clubs.. FC flying at Doncaster, 34-6 up. However, KR are being battered at home to Huddersfield – they’re 32-0 down.
4:16pm – Widnes were thumped 40-0 in their opening pre-season friendly, but things are going better for them today. 14-0 up against a side many fancy to do well in 2016, Halifax.
4:15pm – What a game at the LSV! The self-dubbed ‘Battle of the Borough’ is Leigh 20-20 Wigan, sounds a thriller!
4:07pm – Last year’s top try scorer in Super League is underway for 2016.. Jermaine McGillvary has his first and Huddersfield are running riot at Hull KR – as are Hull at Doncaster.
HALF-TIME around the grounds – here’s what we’ve got so far.. As always, full reports of every game in tomorrow’s League Express – but you knew that already, didn’t you!
Leigh 16-14 Wigan
Hull KR 0-24 Huddersfield
Barrow 4-10 Workington
Doncaster 0-30 Hull FC
Widnes 14-0 Halifax
3:42pm – Approaching half-time, scores to follow – there’s a fair few one-sided scoreline thus far..
3:24pm – Sounds like a bad one for Hull KR’s Kevin Larroyer against Huddersfield..
3:21pm – Scores on the doors: Leigh 0-14 Wigan, Doncaster 0-16 Hull FC, Widnes 0-0 Halifax, Hull KR 0-12 Huddersfield, Barrow 4-4 Workington.
3:15pm – Already seen one tweet saying Hull’s game at Doncaster is the “Leon Pryce show”. FC cruising – 16-0 up at Donny with a try for Pryce for good measure.
3:10pm – A big year ahead for Josh Charnley, and he’s started it well. A try at Leigh puts Wigan into the lead early on. Charnley playing left wing now, incidentally (he’s played right all his career)
3:09pm – Hull starting well, a try through Leon Pryce putting them in front at Doncaster. Huddersfield also ahead in an all-Super League game v Hull KR.
3:04pm – Well underway in our friendlies now. Interesting to see Lee Smith at full-back for Hull FC, will he make enough of an impression to land a deal?
PRE-GAME
It’s been a heavy night of snow for both sides of the Pennines, with the weather causing havoc for several of today’s pre-season friendly games.
There have already been a number of postponements, whilst some clubs have confirmed that their games are at least going ahead.
Here’s the state of play on today’s games as far as we can gather.
OFF
Featherstone v Salford Red Devils
Rochdale v Oldham
Swinton v Sheffield
Batley v Heavy Woollen Select
ON
Widnes v Halifax
Hull KR v Huddersfield
Leigh v Wigan
Barrow v Workington
St Helens v Dewsbury (6:30pm KO)
Doncaster v Hull
11:02am – we’re expecting confirmation within the next 15 minutes over whether Hull FC’s trip to Doncaster goes ahead.
11:04am – still seems to be up in the air whether St Helens v Dewsbury is on, too. Dewsbury have tweeted to say it is, but Saints’ Twitter feed suggests it’s pending at the moment. We’ve been told “possibly” in terms of whether the game goes ahead – if it does, it’ll be with a 6:30KO.
2:14pm – team news starting to roll in – including at Halifax v Widnes:

2:53pm – Leigh v Wigan underway in less than ten – Harrison Hansen plays, and the Wigan Evening Post’s Phil Wilkinson has an interesting observation:
Hmm… so Hansen got 1 match ban from offence in Salford’s last game. A friendly does count. Leigh haven’t played any yet. And he starts!
