
History could be made tonight in Featherstone.
After tries in 16 consecutive first-grade matches, Rovers winger Luke Briscoe is aiming to equal Eric Harris’ all-time record of tries in 17 straight games tonight by scoring at least once in the club’s Challenge Cup game with reigning holders Hull FC.
Harris, who scored an incredible 391 tries in just 383 appearances in nine years from 1930-39 for Leeds – is fondly remembered as one of the greatest wingers ever to play in the British game – but he will have company in terms of his most famous record should Briscoe cross tonight.
His 36 tries in 17 consecutive matches between 1935 and 1936 set a new all-time record that has still never been beaten: yet Briscoe can join the ‘Toowoomba Ghost’ on tries in 17 straight games tonight. Here’s how the two records compare:
