Joel Moon is excited about getting stuck into pre-season with the Leeds Rhinos and the new season ahead after being plagued with injuries at the end of 2014.
The Australian centre missed the Rhinos pre-season regime in 2015 to have major operations on both knees. But he went on to score twelve tries and set up eleven in 26 appearances in the 2015 campaign, helping Leeds claim a historic treble of trophies.
After a few weeks back in his native Australia, the 27-year old is now ready for the pre-season.
“I’m looking forward to it,” Moon said.
“I’ve had a good break and I’m looking forward to getting back into it and starting the year. My body’s fine now. Last year was tough, but this year I’m fresh and raring to go.”
Moon has been sweltering in the Queensland heat and is looking forward to the UK’s winter conditions.
“All the boys were sending me messages that it was snowing,” he said.
“But it’s been too hot here – at 35 degrees it’s boiling. I’m looking forward to getting back to the cold; I’m used to it now.”
Moon is aware that he will return to a squad that will look very different in 2016, but he is confident the Rhinos will be going all out to keep hold of their three trophies next year.
“It’ll be tough, but I guess that’s what Rugby League is,” he said.
“Leeds are a great club and that’s what we do, we challenge ourselves and set goals like that. That’s why we achieve them, because we’ve got some great players and great staff. I guess we’ll be doing our best and trying to do it again.”
