Sheffield Eagles will celebrate a huge milestone on Sunday 19th July, with the 1000th game in the club’s history due to be played against Featherstone Rovers, at the Keepmoat Stadium. Kick off will be at 4.15pm.
The club has racked up 999 games since first taking to the field against Rochdale Hornets, in September 1984. To celebrate the achievement up to 1000 local school children are being invited to attend the game.
The game has added significance, however, as it sees the Eagles take on league rivals Featherstone Rovers, who are vying to take the Eagles’ play-off spot away with a vital win. They are in a position to do so after their astonishing win against second-placed Bradford Bulls, last weekend.
“It’s a massive game this Sunday,” commented Eagles Head Coach, Mark Aston. “We are right at the business end of the season and will be fighting hard to get the point we need, to secure a top four finish.”
The Eagles players will warm up in special one off tee shirts which will be made available for fans to buy after the game. And the club are also giving fans the chance to enjoy this historic landmark in style, by offering special hospitality packages for sale.
