St Helens v Catalans: Three key battles on show

The latest round of Super League action gets underway on Thursday night when Catalans Dragons look to extend their incredible winning run in England, as they travel to Langtree Park to take on St Helens.

The Dragons, who have won four games in a row in England and five on the spin in general, will be looking to cement their position inside the competition’s top four with a victory against the Saints tonight.

There will be key battles all over the park, that is for certain. But here’s three in particular that we feel could be vital in deciding the outcome of what will be a great game live on Sky Sports.

Theo Fages v Todd Carney (half-back)
With the mercurial Todd Carney set to return to the Dragons’ line-up this evening, it will prove a tricky and intriguing test for the talented Theo Fages opposite him. Fages has excelled in recent weeks, not least last Friday against Warrington, where he was the undoubted standout performer. But will he shine in the face of Carney’s brilliance on Thursday night against his native Frenchmen?

Remi Casty v Kyle Amor (prop)
Both sides possess monster packs this season, and perhaps the best prop in the entire competition in recent weeks has been St Helens’ Kyle Amor. He will square off against Dragons captain Remi Casty this evening in a blockbuster battle of the forwards – but can Casty keep the in-form Amor subdued at Langtree Park?

Jake Spedding v Jodie Broughton (wing)
Jodie Broughton appears to have found a new lease of life at Catalans this season. His two tries last week were crucial in laying the early platform for their win against Hull KR, and he could potentially face off against the young talent, Jake Spedding, this evening. Will Spedding handle Broughton’s size, pace and power? That will be a key match-up, you feel.
