Glenn Morrison has confirmed new signing Mitch Stringer will make his Dewsbury debut in this weekend’s Heavy Woollen Derby.
Stringer joined the Rams after completing his release from Sheffield, who he played for over 300 times during a long spell with the South Yorkshire club.
The 32-year-old has signed a deal at the Tetley’s Stadium for the rest of the season, and will get his first experience in a Rams shirt when they face fierce rivals Batley, who are chasing a spot in the top four.
“We got Stringer signed on late Friday night. His paperwork wasn’t done in time for today but he’ll be ready for next week and hopefully we can get one back over Batley,” said Morrison.
“Mitch is very experienced and he will bring that to us. He’s captained Grand Final winning sides at this level and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Dewsbury’s 24-8 defeat to Halifax at the weekend leaves them in seventh place, nine points behind their local rivals.
