Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach James Webster believes his team will need to be a “thousand times” better than last week’s showing at Widnes are they to get to result tonight.
The Wildcats face unbeaten St Helens in front of the Sky Sports cameras, with Wakefield still smarting from a heavy defeat at Widnes last time out.
And Webster insisted in the build-up to the match that whilst the response from his group has been good, they will need to seriously up their game tonight against the Saints.
“We’ve trained well,” Webster said. “The boys have done well, and we had to watch that video back and go through it, which wasn’t nice.
“The boys acknowledged that they were well off the mark, and we understand we need to be a thousand times better against one of the top teams in the competition on Friday night.
“Last weekend was hard to swallow; we’re proud people and we were embarrassed with our performance against Widnes. However, everything since then has been about fixing the problems in order to win this game.”
