Wakefield suffer England injury blow

Wakefield Wildcats are set to be without star forward Anthony England for Friday’s basement battle with Huddersfield.

The former Warrington front-row was helped from the field in the seventh minute of the Wildcats’ defeat to Hull FC on Friday, with concerns that he may have suffered a serious injury.

Thankfully, Chris Chester confirmed to TotalRL that the 29-year-old reported for training on what was his first official day in charge after being appointed head coach last week.

However, the former Hull KR boss also confirmed he is likely to be without his talismanic forward for the Good Friday bout with the Giants.

“He’s touch and go this week to be honest, but it looks like we’ve lost him for this week.

“He’s been going very well. But the good thing with this squad is that it is pretty healthy and we have some depth to cover for him if he is missing over Easter.

“When we came in he turned up for training and was walking on it for a bit, but we probably won’t have him back until the Leeds game.”
