Hull KR prop Michael Weyman admits he was disappointed to see boss Craig Sandercock leave the club last week, but claims he is trying to put his emotions to one side and concentrate on his rugby.
Sandercock left the club last Thursday, but the Rovers bounced back to beat league leaders St Helens 40-10 in Chris Chester’s first game in temporary charge. And with a trip to Leeds looming on the horizon, Weyman admits he has to forget any emotional attachment to Sandercock, and concentrate on making the top eight.
“Personally, I was very disappointed,” Weyman told the Hull Daily Mail.
“Craig was very influential in getting me to the club and stuff like that and to have him go like that was disappointing.
“But I’m here to play footy and I had a job to do and just had to get on with it. You have to put your emotions aside and just go from there.
“It doesn’t get any easier for us. It’s going to be tough, with it being at Leeds, so it’s going to be hard, but we’ve enjoyed Sunday’s win and are now looking forward to that.”
