Broken leg overshadows Wales win

A BROKEN leg suffered by Matty Barron overshadowed a comfortable victory for Wales against a spirited Keighley side.

The game – the latest to raise funds for Danny Jones’ wife Lizzie and young twins Bobby and Phoebe – was marred by Newcastle Thunder prop Barron’s injury and Welsh boss John Kear agreed, commenting: “Matty has broken his tibia and fibia so it’s a clean break of the leg which put a huge dampener on everything just six minutes in.

“All the lads best wishes go out to Matty but obviously it has put an end to his European Championship campaign.

Wales coach John Kear was left disappointed by Barron’s injury

“I’m pleased that we came here and paid our respects to Danny and I was fairly pleased with some of the individual stuff I saw out there, which is heartening for the future.”
