    Selling the club

After two great wins against premiership clubs and a great chance again to win against Swinton, the club MUST get the message out that the yeds are playing some fantastic rugby. Our next home game against title rivals Newcastle MUST be advertised in as many outlets as possible. All the amateur clubs MUST be given a poster advertising the game and free tickets, a lengthy piece MUST be in the Oldham Times, OCR MUST promote the game, free tickets to rugby playing schools, leaflet the Limeside Estate and why not flyers posted by the Royal Mail. This game is massive for our club! It could be the catalyst of setting a feelgood factor for the season, which is probably the most important season considering the murmurs that sooperdooperleague will be taking full control of all things RL in the not too distant future.

    2019 Squad and signings

Moving forward. Langers has gone and good luck to him. The question I am posing is "who do we want to retain from last year's team to give us a realistic chance of promotion?"

I would like to wish all those who positively subscribe to our great club's forum page "A Fantastic Christmas and a Better 2019."
  4. Heard on the radio coming back from Bradford that Widnes are going to receive £500,000 parachute payment. Surely this can't be true? I feel for Widnes but their relegation is of their own making, they just weren't good enough to be in SL. Like any business that finds itself in financial difficulties they have to deal with it themselves not beg for money. Surely, Widnes are a business and they should sort out their own mess like lots of other clubs have done over the years. The argument is going to be given "What about the contracted players?" It's them who got the club relegated and like any employee when a firm goes bust they are made redundant. Sadly, it's the RL yet again looking after "The Club".

Has the venue been sorted yet for the Bradford game?

Thank God there isn't any relegation this season. Again for the umpteenth season we are trying to smash our way through the middle with little or no imagination near to the line or anywhere for that matter. The players are good enough there is no doubt but why cant they just keep the ball alive just as Hunslet did. They were by far the better and more organised side today. I dread to think what Keighley will do to us next week having scored over 70 points today. The ref made some mistakes but we cant blame him for the shambles shown today.

Massive game on Friday. Are they full time professionals if so how did they manage to get out of the position they were in last season? Could it be the RL stepped in and helped them out because they are a "big team" that should be in sooperdooper league! Best pub to meet up - anyone know?

    The Second Great Schism

I have and many more have, I am sure, been screaming out for this for years. I even, many years ago, contacted all of the teams outside of sooperdooper league at that time with the sole aim for a breakaway and we organise our own competitions and chase up our own television rights so we wouldn't have to beg for crumbs from the sooperdooper league table. sooperdooper league doesn't want anything to do with the "lesser" leagues other than getting their players match fit. Reading the info about a 20 team sooperdooper two divisions concept, it will be interesting how they will organise it. Could it be by franchise, just the twenty teams at the time of the split, etc. there are numerous possibilities. Could this thinking have anything to do with the possibility of Sky pulling out in a couple of years. Sadly, there will be casualties and many hearts broken.

    Tuther rugby

It was so sad to read in yesterday's paper that all but Exeter are massively in debt, with London Irish, Worcester and Saracens up for sale. It went on to say that club rugby is in its deathrows with only international money pay outs and European matches keeping it afloat.

    Oldham in the cup

There appears to be very little going on, on the Fax Forum Page. As an Oldham fan who couldn't get to last night's game I would like to hear from the Fax perspective. Were Oldham good, were Fax dreadful, what side did Fax put out or was it the Ref's fault?

Has anyone got any information about who we will be dual regging with next season?

    The Future of ORLFC

Several weeks ago it was suggested that there could be a meeting of like minded people to have a meeting to look at the future of ORLFC. Sadly, like most things on the forum there were comments made but nothing materialised. I am opening up the discussion again because the topic is, I feel, is essential for our club's survival. If enough people are interested then we could use one of our ARLFCs and invite like minded people from whatever source and thrash out the way forward rather than just talking about it. there are enough great minds on this forum capable of making it happen.

    Oldham Evening Chronicle

With the demise of the OEC it's up to this site to keep us informed about what is going on with the Yeds. Both Wardy and Tyson looked in a bad way at the end of the game. Any news about their fitness for the crunch game of the season? Also, there has been a lot of talk about where we will be playing next season irrespective of which division we are in. Is there a reason why we can't carry on at Bower Fold?

    Should Naylor go?

It saddens me to open up this topic but has Naylor lost the respect of the team or has he run out of ideas to improve the style of play other than the five one man surges then a kick to nowhere?

    Yed Memories

Watching Clay's 40/20 and replying with memories of Paddy's try against Wigan and howardm1978s reminded me of Halkyard's try against the Aussied made me think there must be hundreds of other great memories out there. Use this line to share them so as to bring a smile to everyone's face,

    Bradford Match

Massive game for us if we are to avoid slipping away from the sides just above us. Also, after Bradford we have Toulouse and then we have Swinton at home followed by Halifax away. It doesn't get any easier that's why I feel this is a massive home game for us. I just hope Nobby can field his strongest team so avoid having to move players out of their best positions. We have the talent to give anyone a good game. Are Bradford full time again if so that will make a difference as it showed last season.

    Tyson's Best Position

Tyson has now served his time and thankfully is back in the side. I feel his best position is in the second row where he will be always in the thick of things rather than stuck out in the centre. What do people think? .

I fear for our lads this weekend because they will still be smarting from last year. All I can hope for is they defend as they have done so far so keeping the score down and Campbell is not reffing..
