  1. This is very true. Aston is a fantastic coach and has done well to scrabble cash together from various sources to create the facade of a top class club. They let themselves down in other areas (I won't go into this as West Country Eagle will tell me off) but it'd be a shame if Sheffield were to unravel after another successful season on the pitch. Let's hope a workable, common sense conclusion emerges. Ps, has the club looked at all the non-league football grounds in and around Sheffield?
  2. The difference is, despite Brown's tinkering and dithering preventing them from pushing on, many of the building blocks of success had been implemented prior to Anderson's elevation. Can the same be said of Hull?
  3. Good question. Have they given up on the idea of someone building a ground for them?
  4. Well that's one way of getting tuition fees paid.
  5. Last time I checked they didn't have turnstiles at universities either. The one thing with 'The Mount' is that there's only one way in and out. I still think Chesterfield is the best of the potential short term options though.
  6. If the Eagles have already 'acquired' temporary stands, why don't they approach Mount St Mary's? I know it's not technically Sheffield as it occupies that grey area that comprises the 'perineum' between Sheffield and Chesterfield but it's a far more workable option than some I've seen mentioned and is less than five mins from junction 31(?) of the M1.
  7. Great bloke who's probably been Salford's most improved player this year. Best of luck to him!
  8. Nobody wanted Daniel Holdsworth when Salford chucked him a lifeline but, whinging aside, he turned out ok.
  9. I've inadvertently opted to 'follow' this topic and am therefore being bombarded with email updates. Any idea how I can 'unfollow?'
  10. Like it or not (and personally I'd prefer two fully funded, fully professional leagues of ten) it's quite clear that this new structure will be in place come 2015. Rather than pointing out the apparent flaws it'd be better to focus on tweaking things to get the system as good as it can be (ie, figuring out a way to reward those teams who finish further up the table after 22 rounds).
  11. I'm inclined to agree but more because it would at least allow the funding for all 20 clubs to be fully pro.
  12. There are lots of things posted on this forum that I disagree with, there are lots of things I think are barking mad. However, I never thought I'd see anyone dismissing season tickets as a relic when they're the only thing propping our crowds up. The big challenge for rugby league is to figure out how to get people to games that aren't covered by the season ticket! To cut a long story short, season tickets are a lifeline for most super league clubs and for those fans who like to obsess over crowd data. We should be figuring out ways to sell more of them.
