Leigh Centurions confirm Gareth Hock deal

Leigh Centurions have confirmed the signing of former England international Gareth Hock from Salford Red Devils.

The former Wigan and Widnes forward was released by Marwan Koukash’s Red Devils earlier this week, and will now head to the Championship for the next chapter of his career.

Hock has signed an initial two-year contract with the Centurions until the end of the 2016 season, with an option for a third in place should both parties agree to it.

“The staff and my players are all very enthused and excited to welcome Gareth to the family and challenge him to work hard and express himself through his talents,” Leigh boss Paul Rowley said.

Hock will have to wait until making his Centurions debut, having been issued with a six-match ban by the RFL following his final game for the Red Devils, against St Helens.
