12 Players of Christmas at TotalRL: Catalans Dragons

The mini-series in full so far:
Castleford Tigers: Brandon Westerman

It’s the run to Christmas 2016 – and here at TotalRL.com, we’re taking a look at 12 players – one a day – who could be the next big breakout stars in Super League next season.

We’re running in alphabetical order, and after starting with Castleford, we’re hopping from West Yorkshire to the south of France – and looking at Laurent Frayssinous’ Catalans Dragons side. Which young French star could be the next big thing in Perpignan?

Jordan Dezaria
Position: Second row
Date of birth: November 6 1996

There have been no shortage of young French players coming through the ranks at Catalans Dragons since their inaugural season in Super League a decade ago. However, towering forward Jordan Dezaria could yet prove to be one of the best.

He is following in the footsteps of the likes of Gadwin Springer, Morgan Escare and Romain Navarrete – but the problem for the Dragons in the last couple of years is that, for the most part at least, they’ve not been able to keep hold of those promising young players.

For their sake, hopefully Dezaria proves to be different. He is an absolute colossus at the age of just 20, and having made his debut towards the back end of last season, is likely to be a more prominent part of Laurent Frayssinous’ side in 2017.

Can he be the next talented Frenchman to burst through the ranks at Stade Gilbert Brutus? We certainly think so.
