Jones-Buchanan excited by strong pre-season

Leeds Rhinos forward Jamie Jones-Buchanan says he’s experienced one of the strongest pre-season campaigns of his career, as he winds up for a major 2015 with the Rhinos.

Jones-Buchanan endured a difficult 2014 which was blighted by injury, as the Rhinos crashed out of the play-offs in week one to Catalans Dragons.

But the forward says the Rhinos are much stronger than they were this time last year, and described the environment during pre-season as one of the most intense he’s ever experienced.

“I think we’re pretty strong. We’ve had a fantastic off-season – in fact, it’s certainly one of the strongest I’ve had during my career, especially during the first six or seven weeks,” he said.

“I came in early with the young boys, and Brian McDermott has produced an environment which is as intense as we’ve had for a long time.

“We’re getting that mentality right and making sure the young boys are coming through with the right strength of mind. I’m really looking forward to it; everybody looks really fit and really strong.”
