JAKE WEBSTER says that the addition of Australian Jordie Hedges to the Keighley Cougars coaching staff is a major coup in what he believes is the most unpredictable League One for many years.
The Cougars coach has reflected on how his side, after running clear in the top two throughout 2024, fell at the penultimate hurdle of the play-off system.
“Defensively we lacked a bit of detail and Jordie was the defensive coach at London in Super League and for him to come down to Keighley has been massive,” Webster said.
“He’s been with us from the start of pre-season.
“I’m confident of our squad but am under no illusions and think that this is going to be the toughest League One since I’ve been involved with Keighley as there are six or seven teams who are going to be there or thereabouts.”
Harry Bowes (calf) and Dan Parker (fractured eye socket) are currently out injured but both expected back in a couple of weeks, while the West Yorkshire side are also currently weathering the suspension of Lewis Hatton and the ongoing aftermath of Brad England’s collision with a referee, which many observers thought was purely accidental.
