Batley in the top four after Heavy Woollen Derby triumph

Batley Bulldogs leapfrogged Featherstone, for the time being at least, following a 28-24 victory over local rivals Dewsbury.

Dewsbury surrendered the lead twice. After going 12-0 ahead through Jason Crookes and Paul Sykes, Dewsbury conceded two tries of their own, with Chris Ulugia and Greg Minikin scoring for the Bulldogs.

Although Glenn Morrison’s side extended their lead before half-time through Dale Morton, Batley went ahead for the first time through scores for James Brown and Tom Lillycrop. Dalton Grant levelled it with a try for the Rams, but a late penalty and two drop goals secured victory for Batley.
