Bradford Bulls have signed Warrington Wolves forward Joe Philbin on loan for a month. Philbin, who has come through the same youth ranks as current NRL and England international Mike Cooper and three-time Challenge Cup winner Ben Harrison, will be Rohan Smith’s third addition since becoming Head Coach.
The talented 21-year-old previously had a short spell on loan at the Bulls in 2014 under the tutorage of Francis Cummins, where he was part of the pre-season friendlies against Hull FC, Dewsbury Rams and Castleford Tigers.
Philbin made his Super League debut aged 18 versus Hull KR, before scoring his first try for the Wire a year later against Catalan Dragons followed by his second score at home to KR eight days later.
“I’m looking forward to playing consistent games for a top quality side,” said Philbin. “I want to get some consistency in my game and the Bulls is perfect place to do that.
“I’ve just had my first session this morning and I’ve really enjoyed it. I bring an explosive running game and I’ll be aiming to do my all in a Bulls shirt every week.”
“Joe is a great young man. I had a really enjoyable time with him yesterday talking about life and footie,” said Smith. “He is very determined to come and represent himself and the Bulls in the coming month. He offers some versatility playing in the middle and on the edge as well.
“I’ve had a couple of good chats with Tony and Richard Agar about Joe. They have got a high opinion of him and I’m looking forward to seeing him play for the Bulls and develop over the next month.”
