RFL non-executive chairman Brian Barwick has a new job, after being appointed as the new chairman of the Football Conference – a role which will begin at the end of the current season.
The announcement of Barwick in the role – which sees him returning to football after previously working at the Football Association (FA) – will not impact on his role with the RFL, TotalRL.com have learned.
Indeed, a statement from the RFL shortly after TotalRL.com received confirmation of the impact on Barwick’s role confirmed as much, saying they believe it will not disrupt the “important contribution” he makes to the sport.
“We would like to congratulate Brian on his appointment as Conference chairman,” the spokesman said.
“Brian will continue to bring considerable experience and huge enthusiasm to his roles as RFL chairman and chairman of Super League (Europe), and is absolutely determined that this move will not disrupt the important contribution he makes to rugby league.”
