Castleford sign Goodall

Castleford Tigers have signed Jamel Goodall from Keighley Cougars on a 12 month Academy contract.

As first revealed in League Express last week, the Tigers have snapped up the utility player after impressing in Keighley’s reserve grade this season.

Goodall, who spent time on loan at League 1 side Gloucestershire All Golds, made his Cougars debut this year, but will now link up with the Tigers, who are expected to add fellow youngster Tuoyo Igodo to their ranks from London Broncos.

Tigers head of youth Pete Riding said: “Jamel is a player with huge of potential. He is big, quick and strong and I look forward to seeing how he develops in our environment, he was first brought to our attention while playing college Rugby playing for the Halifax Elite Rugby Academy.”

This signing is the first since a recent partnership has been arranged by the Tigers and The Halifax Elite Rugby Academy. It is anticipated that this alliance will also provide further opportunities for late developing players and widen the Tigers player and recruitment pool whilst providing a potential pathway for youngsters on the academy programme into the professional game.
