Catalans Dragons have given former University of Alabama running back Brent Calloway a week-long trial with a view to joining the French outfit.
The 22-year-old American Football player seemingly has all the physical attributes to thrive in our sport – he is over six feet tall, weighs nearly 16 stones, and can sprint 100m in comfortably under 11 seconds. It remains to be seen if he has the technical skills, though, and that’s what the trial will determine.
Catalans Dragons CEO Christophe Jouffret said: “It’s interesting to work with him and to give him the opportunity to show his qualities. We’ll take a decision at the end of the week.
“He will train with our reserve this week and will have physical and technical tests with the staff. It’s interesting to gauge the capacity to adapt to the Rugby League for an athlete coming from another sport.”
