Catalans Dragons have offered a contract to Hull Kingston Rovers centre Iain Thornley.
The Dragons have had an outside back at the top of their wishlist since beginning their recruitment process for the new season, with Thornley their prime target after becoming available following relegation with the Robins.
Thornley was offered a deal within 24 hours of the Million Pound Game defeat to Salford, with the Dragons optimistic that they can land the 25-year-old.
Thornley was part of the Wigan Warriors team that won the double in 2013, playing in both the Challenge Cup and Grand Final victories. However, limited opportunities eventually saw him move to Rovers, where he spent the 2016 season.
The news of Catalans’ interest in the Wigan-born centre follows the arrival of New Zealand Test prop Sam Moa, who has signed for the club on a two-year deal, and the re-signing of Greg Bird, who has signed a bumper five-year deal.
