OLDHAM coach Sean Long knows he can call on the Chapelhow twins Jay and Ted to play in any position required.
The 29-year-old pair, who also operated alongside each other at Widnes and Newcastle Thunder before joining the Roughyeds ahead of last season, are props by trade.
But Jay came off the bench to play as a second rower – and score a try – in the pre-season run-out against new dual-registration partners Wigan, who won 28-16 at Boundary Park.
“I’ve only had a few cameos there, but now I’ve scored two tries as a second rower, because I did it in a Challenge Cup tie for Widnes against Warrington (in 2017),” he said.
“To be fair Riley Dean did most of the work with a great pass, but it’s always nice to score.
“Sean asked if I’d give it a go, and Ted and I think alike – we’ll play anywhere if it means pulling on an Oldham shirt.
“We both enjoyed playing against Wigan, because you want to test yourself against the best.
“They started really strongly, but I think we grew into the game, and we’ll learn a lot from the experience.”
Oldham have also forged a dual-registration deal with neighbours Rochdale.
