There was no fairytale start for Chris Chester as Wakefield went down 22-4 to Hull FC.
The Airlie Birds picked up their first victory in four thanks to tries through Mark Minichiello (2), Curtis Naughton and Carlos Tuimavave.
Wakefield defended valiantly early on but fell behind midway through the first-half when Minichiello ran on to Jamie Shaul’s pass.
The Wildcats replied when Joe Arundel crashed over, but Minichiello’s second, a somewhat fortunate try after Shaul’s pass ricocheted off the back-rowers shins, extended their lead.
A piece of brilliance from Frank Pritchard gave Lee Radford’s side a 16-4 lead at half-time, with The Tank throwing an outstanding dummy before passing to Curtis Naughton to score.
Wakefield put pressure on in the second-half, but when Danny Washbrook put Carlos Tuimavave in under the posts, the game was finished.
