Castleford Tigers have confirmed that two of their key squad members have signed new contracts with the club, as James Clare and Grant Millington have both penned fresh deals.
Clare has signed until the end of the 2016 season, with the possibility of a further two years on the table should both parties agree, with Millington signing a long-term deal until at least the end of 2018 – with an option for the club to extend into 2019.
Clare said being a local lad made it a very simple decision to sign a new deal with the club, and he’s excited to remain with his hometown club.
“I really trust in what Daryl, Danny and Shez have set up here, so for them to back their trust in me is very rewarding,” Clare said.
“We have really exciting times ahead – Castleford Tigers fans are the greatest fans in Super League. I’ve grown up as a boy being a season ticket holder here, and there’s just nothing better than playing down Wheldon Road in front of these fans.
“There’s been massive change on and off the pitch here over the past year, our community department, commercial, the academy set up, everyone here is working hard to build a massive future ahead for this great club.”
As for prop Millington, he says a big factor in him signing such a long deal is the prospect of the club moving forward, saying: “I’m really happy and excited to extend my stay at Castleford Tigers until at least 2018.
“Living away from Australia can be difficult at times, but the family environment at the club makes life a lot easier for my life Amy and I. I feel the Tigers as a rugby league team, and as a club in general, is moving in the right direction. Hopefully we can continue to build on the success we’ve had this season and I can’t wait to be a part of something special over the next few years.”
