Costigan returns for Robins, Gardner should start

Papua New Guinea forward Neville Costigan is set to return to the Hull KR squad for their trip to Wigan this Friday, but Craig Hall is certain to miss out, while Rhys Lovegrove and Graeme Horne are doubtful.

Costigan missed last week’s trip to Saints with illness, while Hall suffered a suspected ruptured testicle, which he was later cleared of.

Coach Craig Sandercock said: “The good news for Craig is that there wasn’t a rupture there but he did have to have surgery and the doctor seems to think he’ll be out for a reasonable period of time.

“Neville was ill and in no fit state to play last weekend but he’ll be okay for Friday night. As for Rhys and Graeme, they’re touch and go. Their injuries aren’t serious, but could be enough to perhaps rule them out for Friday night.”

The Australian does have one of Super League’s most prolific try scorers to call on, though – Ade Gardner, who signed on a month-long loan at the weekend.

“I’d suggest at this stage that Ade will go straight into the squad on Friday and he’s trained really well this week,” the Robins’ boss added.

“He’s just what we needed in terms of his experience and talk out on the pitch and I dare say he’ll slot straight in.”
