Covid-19 testing costs falling

Testing costs have been reduced again as Super League’s return draws closer.

Clubs have been informed that testing for the coronavirus will now cost £3,000 per week after having been initially told it would cost £5,000 per week.

Though it remains an expensive bill, the reduction would save clubs in excess of £30,000 each during the course of the season.

And they are hoping that costs could be reduced once again in the future, with the price currently coming down all the time.

Different methods of testing, including the testing of saliva, are becoming more viable, which would be considerably cheaper.

Testing procedures would see players examined midweek in the lead-up to a midweek game. Positive tests would result in isolation and the player withdrawn from the game.
