CASTLEFORD TIGERS head coach Craig Lingard has admitted that the club are unlikely to bring anyone in before tomorrow’s transfer deadline.
The deadline for signings for the 2024 season ends tomorrow with the Tigers having previously been linked with Parramatta Eels centre Zac Cini.
That deal is still up in the air for 2025, and Lingard has revealed that young players will be blooded instead of going out for new recruits.
“I would imagine that will be exactly the same, we will be seeing the season out with what we’ve got. We are low on bodies hence the three youngsters in the squad,” Lingard said.
“It’s forced our hand to push into this situation. We were going to introduce these young kids anyway. A lot more of these younger kids will play if we pick up more injuries or bans.”
Ahead of last night’s Super League fixture against Leigh Leopards, Lingard issued another rallying cry for Castleford fans, with the need for an average of 7,500 fans throughout the year key to earning maximum attendance points under IMG’s plans.
“The fans have been massive, they have been great even when we haven’t played too well this season. They have been 100 per cent behind us.
“This crowd is bouncing and there is no better stadium to play at and hopefully they can bring the noise.”
